The exhibition “The road to Van Eyck ‘with over ninety masterpieces from the Dutch, French and German art from around 1400, was designed by Doepel Strijkers for Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The most precious and fragile paintings, sculptures, goldsmith’s work, miniatures and drawings of the most important artists from Europe, including Jan van Eyck and masters such as Jean Malouel and the Master of the Holy Veronica, from collections in the United States and Europe came to Rotterdam. It is the first and probably the last time - because of the vulnerability of the work - that an exhibition on this subject will be held. “The road to Van Eyck” highlights how and by whom Jan van Eyck was inspired to create his revolutionary and realistic style.
